Care Work

-------Care Work-------

In the garden

I find

good company

And planting seeds

a chance, myself, to grow.

There are fewer answers

than there are questions

that I hold

And so

I listen

And take care

with the space

between

For attention makes room

in all kinds of ways

Encouraging

the light

within.

What Moves Within

-------What Moves Within-------

Beyond the edges

of what is known

There is a world

to let

become

A forest

yet untouched by war

Awaiting

our presence

to grow.

Change need not come

by force nor fear

But forgiveness

to what moves

within

Like an acorn

forgives itself to Winter

And

with Spring

to transformation.

Let Back In

-------Let Back In-------

To the space of mind

reclaimed

from anger

From fear

and isolation

I let the joy back in

Unapologetically,

like wind encouraging

clouds along

Re-membering

the stars beyond.

A New Day

-------A New Day-------

The power of men

is clung

to

By hands

that have no other hand

to hold.

It is a fragile existence,

top-heavy

and about to fall.

For there is

a new day

coming

A world unbound from gender,

from race,

from possession.

And as a green wave,

like diamonds,

curls upon the rocks

A ripple of our dream

returns out

to the Sea.

Tumbling

-------Tumbling-------

Like the Earth

who has moved

through the longest of nights

And the world

in this

dark hour

I tumble,

Unknowing

but not alone,

toward some unbuyable longing

To dance

among

the stars.

As If

-------As If-------

There is smoke in the air,

an angst throughout the body

where the forest is being cut.

They speak of progress

as if the soya beans and timber could

somehow

take the place of home.

As if

the intricately

intertwined

together

body

Beautiful

one,

Earth

and Human,

was disposable.

It is in the lonely,

unreckoned-with

corners of the mind

that greed has room to grow

As if

to fill a void

of its own desperate making.

Worlds Beyond

-------Worlds Beyond-------

We are born

from dreams

Of the make believe

A stone shaping

the carver's hands.

Come now

To where the child

inside you plays

Imagining worlds beyond worlds

Like a seed stirring

through Winter

Like a flower emerging in the Spring.
