Grace

-------Grace-------

At times
when the world
all feels too much

Like beauty
has been took
away

There are lilacs in bloom

Or
some
iteration

Of gracefulness
to bring
us home.

Joy I Am

-------Joy I Am-------

Aspen leaves

and Osprey

wings

Both have their way on wind

That moves

me too

To resurrect

The joy

I am

within.

Ocean

-------Ocean-------

The grass the height

of dandelion

Dark green

among

the gold

Too young to cut

for hay

so best

To rest

and watch

the wind like waves

Upon

this pasture ocean.

Rejoice

-------Rejoice-------

A break in the rain

and the songs

return

Time enough

for Dandelion

To kick up

their heels

with the Sun.

To the Water

-------To the Water-------

In the dusk

approaching

The peepers sing

An ode

to the water

An ode to spring.

Very Well

-------Very Well-------

It had never

occurred

to me

Before the hoe

found my hands

That the weeds

of life

need not take over

But when tended to

not cussed or avoided

Can very well

become

like friends.

Stars That Fill

-------Stars That Fill-------

Like the stars that fill

a new moon sky

The light

each hold

within us

Is ever-burning

and always there

Just awaiting

the world

to see.

Spring

Change

she said

God

is

Change.

Sway II

-------Sway II-------

There is stillness

within

the excitements of spring

To the humble

and the wild hearted

Who have tuned

themselves

to the rhythms of nature,

Who sway like Cedar

and do not break

When the winds

of change

return.

Middle Spring

-------Middle Spring-------

On this day

of middle Spring

I celebrate the promise

and the possibilities

we hold within

As the world I've known

breaks open,

Remembering

that change

can be

An opportunity

to grow.

Swallow

-------Swallow-------

It is easy to blame

Easier yet

to fall behind

That stagnant kind of hope

The kind that wishes,

complicitly still

Just waiting for things to change.

The swallows nest

does not build itself

But the swallow

Who with grass

and hallowed mud

Makes believe their home

Form taken

through imagination

The world of which we dream.

Sugar Season

-------Sugar Season-------

Springbirds sing

among the snow drifts

In the face

of wind

and cold

As if to encourage

our tree buds open

And the joy

inside

to rise.

Open

-------Open-------

Through colds return

I can hear

the spring

Quiet

yet

Still unfolding

Like the steady

reminder

Through conflict

and ease

Of Loves commitment

To encourage

the seed,

We are carrying

together,

Open.

Soften the Ground

-------Soften the Ground-------

The rains

have come

in kind return

And soften

the ground

for spring,

For the seeds

we have

been saving

For this

moment

in time.

Trespass

-------Trespass-------

Given the times

I am called to ask,

Who profits

from the land enclosed?

Property,

its borders and law,

Has kept the human

mind confined

Behind

a wall of trespass.

Dis-remembered

is the memory

That once we gathered

without threat

Without fear

Of our

arrest.

Now POSTED signs

protect the mines

And the poisoners

of water,

While the masses

long to be free again,

To live, to love,

to prosper.

So called to ask

in these times am I,

What happens

when all is sold?
