Against the rule

of state and reason,

I give myself,

whole heart,

to treason.

For as greed

defends

this wounded nation,

love resists

toward liberation,

And conveys 

a light

so we all can see

our common roots

and golden leaves.

Moon rises with the duskbirds.

With crickets wings

and the frogs.

Night 

is coming

soon.

As the edges of the lake disappear

and gold folds in

to darkness,

We become whole,

gentle again,

empty.

Like a leaf from a tree,

this body will fall

and return to earth.

So 

be free,

dear soul.

Let go the worry

from your

chest

And come

with this great forest

into Autumn.

Your sad defenses, 

your fear,

and come back down to earth.

the heights of Autumn.

From a seed in the ground

the forests

have grown,

And cover

the hills

with every color.

Dusk holds

the herons wings.

And in the darkness

The edges 

of our bodies

soften,

Returning

back to one,

as we all began.
