A Step Outside

Slowly, 

the fire burns.

Conveying the plant's medicine

Through breath

into blood,

into visions.

One spirit

has been divided

by the state,

Tricked

with sugar

and lies

To believe in the "I",

and "us",

and "them".

But a step 

outside 

this body

And the wounds of our separation

begin 

to heal.

For truth 

transcends

duality,

And a woken soul

perceives the union

between all of life's expressions.

From little seeds

we have become

a great forest,

And leaf by leaf,

with the Autumn,

return to earth.

Before judgement 

can take us further 

from each other

May we be still

a moment

and listen.

The great oak 

is filled with golden,

rustling leaves,

Every one moving 

in their own way

with the wind.

Let go the idea

of right 

and wrong,

Of lines

and

separation,

For we are all

within this circle

together,

Rolling around

and around

the sun.

Together

from a single seed

we have risen

And grown 

wide

with sunshine sugar

To fill 

this orchard 

full.

Every

thing we bear 

will fall,

But none

will be

forgotten.

For Autumn remembers us

back down 

to earth

And our fruits

back to the

seed.

From seed 

through summer

the fruit 

has grown

And with 

Autumn 

bears 

the brittle gold.

Seasons 

bend

around 

a pile,

And 

the thresher

moves 

in circles,

Pounding,

unfolding,

in rhythm

to the seeds return.
