-------Soften the Ground-------
The rains
have come
in kind return
And soften
the ground
for spring,
For the seeds
we have
been saving
For this
moment
in time.

-------Trespass-------
Given the times
I am called to ask,
Who profits
from the land enclosed?
Property,
its borders and law,
Has kept the human
mind confined
Behind
a wall of trespass.
Dis-remembered
is the memory
That once we gathered
without threat
Without fear
Of our
arrest.
Now POSTED signs
protect the mines
And the poisoners
of water,
While the masses
long to be free again,
To live, to love,
to prosper.
So called to ask
in these times am I,
What happens
when all is sold?
-------
-------Together-------
Hope is a straight line
whereas solidarity
meanders
Steadfast and fluid
like a river
toward the sea.
To be human
is to be a child
of this earth
No more
or less
than any other
But sure as spring
the part
each sing
Comes whole
when sung
together.
