Peace is destruction

When genocide 

is construct.

Liberty for all.

Near water,

where the Heron stands,

I can hold 

to time 

like weather

Like coldness 

calls

past hurt to surface

up 

and to this edge

Where I stand 

to face the water

and the depth

of who 

I am.

The settlers cover 

their tracks

But roots never die.

of pine 

needles

Meanders 

its way through cedar.

Dark night and moonlight

A new day

I once was of dying

I learned how 

to love.
