Fecundity haiku

 -------Fecundity haiku-------

In middle summer

Even
the quiet moments

Are filled with music.

Metaphysical

 -------Metaphysical-------

In springtime

I am reminded

Of the fruits

that fell last autumn

How winter held the seeds

and now

With summer

flowers open.

Each of us

are like this

Seasons

ever-changing

Everywhere

and all at once

Present,

past and future.

Thankfull

 -------Thankfull-------

There are many

ways

to say thank you

For this existence,

in this

moment

I bend

and breath

while planting seeds

And with

my hands

dig gardens

That soon

will bear

more gifts to share;

From light

grows light

abundant.

The Tradition

-------The Tradition-------

Responsibility

transcends the distance

Between place

and generation

Here and now

carried on

By those

of long tradition

We are of this earth

no matter what

No matter who

or where we come from

To care for land

is duty, is grace

To give

is our great reception.

Manifesting the Vision

 -------Manifesting the Vision-------

Caged

but unbound

Prisoners

by

political means

Exercise a knowing

That bends the lines

and breaks the chains

Of this modern

day

plantation.

Spirit is an edgeless thing

And a Revolutionary's

cannot be captured

For their vision seed

has here

been planted

And We will tend its growing.

Differentiation

 -------Differentiation-------

Every piece

makes up the whole

All sizes

and shapes

when come together

Cared for

and acknowledged

Will fill

each others

unfilled spaces

Holding steadfast

through the storm.

Reciprocity

 -------Reciprocity-------

People are not
the only ones
who keep the seeds
of change

Those ideas
which hold a hope
for potential
revolution.

Plants
exchange
based on need
with other plants and soil

With birds
and deer
who then convey
their prayers across the land.

Everywhere
are small reminders
there is
enough for all,

In you am I
forever
and together
we are free.

In a Rose

-------In a Rose-------

Ferns unfurl

With Spring's
becoming

Summer in a rose

Unpetalled
yet

Still a dream

Stirring
through the forest.

Resurrect

-------Resurrect-------

Few,

if any,

who speak today

of bootstrap independence

Know the art

of tending land

and cannot feed themselves.

Dependent

as the day of birth.

Unmoved

by humble labor.

Before the wage

we lived with trees

and made our homes from them.

We gathered herbs

and spun the fleece

our woolen

siblings shared.

We spoke the language

of a place

and then those words were stolen.

The Commons

though

still remain

in my dreams awaiting

The Diggers hands

to resurrect

abundance once again.

Undammed

-------Undammed-------

Rivers

reflect

the best of us

At once

both source and ocean

Ancient

and fresh

and flowing

With purpose

and truly free.

Aster

 -------Aster-------

Gold

and green

and in between

The violet dream

of aster.

Summer

unfolding

through fields of spring

Like hope

from a child's laughter.

Sweet Spring

 -------Sweet Spring-------

Alder leaves
like an eagle's wings
spread open
in the sunlight

Singing
sweet from branches,
the budding
of the spring.

Fortitude haiku

From the dry red earth,

From the river
to the sea,

Poppies will blossom.

Consequence haiku

 -------Consequence haiku-------

With tractors
and greed

Settler armies
clear
the land.

Bare soil
grows weeds.

The Thaw haiku

 -------The Thaw haiku-------

Springs seed
is calling

Through frozen ground
it's growing

Those who care
listen.

Evergreen haiku

 -------Evergreen haiku-------

Back
in evergreen

Where wind sings
the ocean through

Cedar bows
and fir.

River

 -------River-------

Stray,
youngblood,
from the beaten path

And let your way
be fluid.

Meander stones,
hop banks
and borders,

Flood
the famished valleys.

Take back what is yours,
your mind
your body

And ride it
to the Sea.

Community haiku

 -------Community haiku-------

Do not
be afraid

Of this world
falling
apart.

Listen
to the birds

To springtime

Telling us,
"Believe

In yourselves."

What If

 -------What If-------

A child's eyes
see clearly

The Truth
before they're hidden

By fear
it might

Incite
a question

And break
the world wide open.

Joyful Resistance

 -------Joyful Resistance-------

The war machine
has failed
to take

The People
from the Land

Time and again

It is time
again

For the fist
to raise
in joy.

birds return

In harmony

Singing us
awake.

Martyr

 -------Martyr-------

Money men
might take the trees

But roots
will hold the light

Years and years
of sunshine gathered

Forever
in the earth.

Winter-Spring haiku

 -------Winter-Spring-------

North wind
cleans
the trees

Of their dead wood
and branches

Making
room
for light.

Stars Surround

 -------Stars Surround-------

A crescent moon
and stars
surround

The silence
of winter sleeping.

Like seeds
behold a memory

Darkness
holds
a seed.

It is time for rest,
for dreams
to gather

Strength now
for the spring.

New Year haiku

 -------New Year-------

Seeds are
awaking

Beneath
this
unceded ground.

Soon
flowers will grow.
