Turning compost
in the mid of Autumn
I am warmed by work
and the time to witness
the lines I've been taught
rebend
As life meanders,
circles and breathes
around
what some
call dying
In this pile
returning
the leaves of us
back to
the earth
we come from.

The sun sets
in red these days
with fires
to the west
Some burning
from deaths destruction,
but some
that other flame
That regenerates
the forest
with the seeds
of martyrs' names.

-------Threads-------
Vinca vines
crawl to cover
the soil
when it
is bare
Akin
a sweater
is thread to welcome
the early
autumn air.

-------The Profiteers-------
It is easy
to blame the sawyer
For the felling of the trees
And overlook
the system
That drives us to our knees
Beneath the weight
of wages
To pay for heat or freeze
While rich men buy
the government
With dollars from those trees.
